Olomana Elementary School

Olomana School comprises four campuses, or sites, each of which serve distinct populations: the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility (HYCF), Olomana Youth Center (OYC), the Detention Home (DH), and Home Maluhia. The school’s genesis dates back to the Hawaiian monarchy when in 1864, King Kamehameha V created the Keoneula Industrial and Reformatory School to care, train and educate helpless and neglected youth and to reform juvenile offenders. In 1961, boys and girls juvenile operations combined to form HYCF. The day school, OYC, and DH were added to the school in 1974. The Kapolei Judiciary Complex opened in 2010 with a new home for DH, named “Hale Hoʻomalu.”
